Public Notice
My Fellow Citizens, A new tax regime has been announced in our country. Across villages, towns, and cities, it has created confusion and quiet fear. People do not know who will pay. They do not know how much they will pay. They do not know what will happen if they cannot pay. There are unanswered questions about the scope of this tax, how it will be applied, and the process by which it is being introduced. When a policy touches the daily bread of millions, clarity must come before compliance. No one should be pushed into deeper hardship by rules they do not understand. StopThisTax.org exists to bring clarity and to protect ordinary Nigerians from harm. This is not a protest. It is a calm, structured response to a serious public policy problem. Our Strategy This work follows a nine-phase strategy Only the first three phases are being made public at this time. The remaining phases will be disclosed as government decisions and actions become clearer. This step-by-step approach is deliberate. It is designed to reduce fear, avoid panic, and help citizens act with understanding rather than confusion. Phase One: INFORMATION STRATEGY Many Nigerians are hearing rumours. Some are afraid. Others have simply stopped trying to understand. To cut through confusion, two information services are being put in place: 1. Tax Monitor | www.taxmonitor.org A plain-language newsletter and website explaining what the new tax regime means for ordinary Nigerians, using text, images, and videos. This service will commence in English in 6 days time. It nd will be translated into Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and Pidgin within the first half of 2026. More Nigerian languages will come thereafter. We intend to speak directly to every poor person in Nigeria using the language they understand 2. Tax Bulletin | www.taxbulletin.org A monthly publication in English providing deeper analysis for journalists, professionals, and policymakers. These services exist to document and effectively communicate facts, reduce ambiguity, and ensure that no citizen is left guessing. The two information products are free to every Nigerian. Phase Two: LEGAL STRATEGY The law must protect the poor as well as the rich. Two legal efforts are underway: 1. Public-Interest Legal Action We have commenced the process of taking the National Assembly (NASS), the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to court to seek judicial clarity on which tax law is currently being implemented, in light of clear inconsistencies between harmonised, gazetted, and re-gazetted texts. 2. My Tax Lawyer | www.mytaxlawyer.us A legal support service providing citizens with access to lawyers across all 36 states and the FCT. This is supported by international partnerships, including trusted collaborators, tax, finance, and legal experts in the United States. What this means for you: If you have a dispute with tax authorities and all reasonable attempts at resolution have failed, My Tax Lawyer will support you through the legal process. For Nigerians classified as poor, this support is provided at no cost. It is 100% FREE. No matter the city, town, or village you are in, if you can reach a phone, we will reach you. You will not face the system alone. We will walk with you. Phase Three: PERSONAL GUIDANCE Every Nigerian’s situation is different. The market woman. That farmer. That youth corper. That student. That keke rider. The teacher. The police officer. The soldier. The mechanic. That trader. That plumber. The nurse. The civil servant. The labourer. That driver. The office staff. The lecturer. Every different person faces his or her own unique tax circumstance 1. My Tax Consultant | www.mytaxconsultant.us A one-to-one guidance service helping individuals understand their own personal position and lawful options under the tax system. This guidance is delivered through AI-assisted systems designed to serve millions of citizens What this means for you: You receive personal, confidential guidance tailored to you individually and based on your own peculiar circumstances. This way you know what applies to you directly, and what does not. You learn how best to position to minimize your exposure. NOTE: For Nigeria’s 143 million citizens classified as poor, all services announced today are provided FREE of charge. For clarity, “poor” is defined as Nigerians earning ₦190,000 per month and below. Visit the different websites for the public countdown to launch date of each product Partnerships This work is supported by partnerships with several institutions, professional networks and specialists operating across multiple jurisdictions, including the United States. These partners bring deep experience in fiscal law, citizen defence, cross-border compliance, regulatory enforcement, and international accountability processes. Their involvement ensures that this process is rigorous, legally grounded, sustained, thoroughly documented, and subject to external scrutiny. Further details will be released in a dedicated Partnerships statement. Next Steps Additional phases will be disclosed as conditions evolve and as government actions become clearer. These phases will be released deliberately and in sequence.
